International Economic Summit

America-China International Economic Summit (IES)
Harvard University

The International Economic Summit is a competition in which students work in teams to represent real countries in a simulation of global trade. In the Summit, country teams score points by first developing a strategic trade plan for their country and then by achieving that plan through trading with the other country teams. In order to be successful in the day-long competition, students need to apply their knowledge of economics, think strategically and work as a team to set up trade alliances, negotiate trade deals and improve their country by investing in long-term development.
The America-China Exchange Economic Summit will involve American students from around Boston and Chinese students from Beijing in a truly international event.
The video below describes the Summit and how it engages students in the concepts of international trade.   Teachers and students interested in participating in the America-China Exchange Economic Summit should contact Richard Donnelly at
